Introduction

Discover what an audience is and how it works.

Audiences let you target specific groups of users based on behavior, interests, and more — like setting a condition for who gets what message or experience.

Whenever you create an experience, you define the audience that will see it. That audience can be as broad as all users or as specific as users who have visited a particular page on your site.

How it works

We use a set of conditions called criteria to determine whether a user is part of an audience. These criteria are specified using our Contextual Query Language (CQL), which allows you to write conditions in a natural, unambiguous way.

Overview

When users interact with your application, we evaluate these criteria against their current context, which includes information like their device, pages visited, and more. Users who meet the criteria are considered part of the audience.

We then find the highest priority experience for that audience to deliver the right content.
