# Total sign-ups

Understand how many new accounts your experience generated.

> **Tracking required**
>
> Track the [User signed up](/reference/event/types/user-account/user-signed-up) event to feed data into this widget.

This chart shows how many sign-ups were generated by users who viewed the experience during the selected period.

We count a sign-up every time your application sends a sign-up event, usually when a user creates a new account.

This metric helps you understand how your personalized content, targeted messaging, or tailored journey is influencing account creation and encouraging visitors to register.

## Metrics

The chart includes:

1. **Total sign-up**\
The number of new accounts created by users who were impacted by your experience.
2. **Sign-ups over time**\
A trend chart showing how the number of sign-ups changed over time.

> **Question: What does the comparison over the last period mean?**
>
> It represents the growth or decline of the metric compared to the previous period.
>
> The *last period* refers to the date filter you selected. For example, if the filter is set to the **last 7 days**, the *last period* will be the **7 days immediately before that range**.

## Interpretation

This chart helps you understand how many new accounts your experience is generating over time. It is particularly useful when evaluating whether a personalized content, optimized layout, or a targeted call to action encourages more users to complete the sign-up process.

For example, after publishing an experience promoting exclusive account benefits for first-time visitors or simplifying the value proposition for returning users, you can observe whether total sign-ups increased among users who saw that experience.

### What the number tells you

Here are some common insights you can get from this widget:

- A rising sign-up count suggests that the experience is successfully motivating more users to register.
- A decline may point to friction in the content, a mismatch between the message and the audience, or a less effective value proposition, indicating opportunities for refinement.
- Monitoring changes over time helps you evaluate how your personalization efforts influence account creation.
