# Tabviews per session

Measure how often users switch between your application tab to another.

> **Automatically tracked**
>
> The SDK automatically tracks the events that feed this widget.

This widget shows the average number of times users switched between your application tab to another during their sessions within a selected period. Monitoring this metric helps you understand how consistently users stay focused on your application or if they frequently leave and return, which may indicate distraction or divided attention.

The comparison with the previous period helps you identify changes in user attention or multitasking behavior over time.

The chart includes:

1. **Tabview per session**\
The average number of times users switched between your application tab to another during their sessions.

> **Question: What does the comparison over the last period mean?**
>
> It represents the growth or decline of the metric compared to the previous period.
>
> The *last period* refers to the date filter you selected. For example, if the filter is set to the **last 7 days**, the *last period* will be the **7 days immediately before that range**.

## Interpretation

This metric helps you assess how engaged and focused users are during their sessions. Tracking trends in this metric allows you to identify patterns of attention and evaluate whether recent product or content updates impact user focus.

### What the number tells you

Here are some common insights you can get from this widget:

- A higher number of tab views per session can signal that users are frequently switching away, perhaps due to slow-loading pages, complex flows, unclear content, or external distractions. Consider analyzing load times or engagement cues.
- A lower number, on the other hand, suggests users remain focused on your content, maintaining an uninterrupted experience. This could be a good indicator of smooth, engaging, or efficient experiences.
